Senior System Admin and Network Analyst (Contract)

Office Location: Ottawa, Ontario

DLS is looking for experienced Senior System Administrators and Network Analysts to join our growing team on one of our larger (longer term) Public Sector client projects in support of global cutting-edge network technologies and infrastructure.

Description:

Reporting directly to the Project Business Owner (or delegate), the responsibilities will be to integrate, support, and maintain the Client’s existing environments and deployments with the latest technologies. Your expertise will be required in assisting our client with innovating, developing and maintaining the most current and secure global work environment. Your ability to collaborate with engineering, testing and field support will be a key asset.

Responsibilities:

The ideal candidate will be responsible for, including but not limited to:

  • Produce work that meets the requirements and quality expectation set by the Team Lead;
  • Complete work assignments within the budget and schedule limitations set by the Team Lead;
  • Make recommendations to the Integration lead with regards to architecture implementation and design of the system;
  • Capability to implement the entire Client system and maintaining a thorough understanding of its relevant components to better integrate new functionalities and maintaining maximum system performance;
  • Implement methodologies to integrate the various pieces of software as per the integration design constraints;
  • Provide timely and accurate status updates, and raise technical issues, risks or concerns to the Team Lead and/or lead Engineer in a timely manner;
  • Design, implementation and conduct effective integration level and performance test cases;
  • Analysis, and evaluate the test results;
  • Produce supporting documentation such as high-level design, detailed design, user guides, system analysis, builds documents, configuration Item document, etc.;
  • Create and maintain all assigned Observations (OBS) and Software Problem Reports (SPRs) in the OBS/SPRDB database. Ensure accurate reporting, assignment and resolution in accordance with customer priorities and timelines;
  • Follow Client delivery procedures to ensure on time delivery to the customer;
  • Provide off-site customer support for engineering efforts, formal testing and deploy exercise of the LCSS baseline in an effective manner;
  • Implementation, integration, maintains and delivery of the virtual server to the customer;
  • Support to engineering efforts and deploy exercises;
  • Provide and maintain a level of effort (LOEs) for integration task;
  • With the use of commercial software, integrate repeatable testing process, capture performance metrics and validate the Client system stability;
  • Interact with customers in a professional manner while remaining cognizant of the interests of the Client;
  • Contribute opinions, expertise, and review comments to process improvement and/or methodology improvement initiatives.
  • Capability to travel for work nationally or internationally for a short period of time.

Required Qualifications:

  • Experience with MS SQL 2012 and newer;
  • Experience with MS Exchange 2013 and newer (preferably 2016);
  • Experience with MS SharePoint 2013 and newer (preferably 2016);
  • Experience with MS System Center 2012 or 2016, including;
  • System Center Management Server 2012 or 2016 (SCCM)
  • System Center Operation Manager 2012 (SCOM)
  • System Center Data Protection Manager 2012 (DPM)
  • Local and Wide Area network design supporting (Cisco or Dell devices) and must perform installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, security, administration, and resolution of software;
  • Expertise in Converged Infrastructure or Hyper-Converged technology (i.e. Cisco/NetApp or EMC/VxRail);
  • Install, secure, maintain, troubleshoot, administer, manage users and upgrade Converge Infrastructure and/or Data Storage configuration;
  • Experience with McAfee Anti-Virus deployment;
  • Linux expertise with Red Hat and Ubuntu;
  • Windows PowerShell Scripting.
